‘Orbit’ was the first track written for the album. At the time, Joel was listening to a lot of jazz infusion and got inspired to write melodies in the same style. Jazz fusion melody lines are long and complex
and something which aren’t common to be heard in lofi beats so he thought it was interesting to try and implement the idea in a track. To maintain the focus on the melody, he kept the instrumental minimal in order to give lead space. The feeling of the melody floating alone in space also inspired the
name.
